You choose the greeting based on the time of day and the relationship. Bonjour works everywhere; Salut is informal; Bonsoir is for the evening.

To talk about yourself, you reuse être, avoir, venir and habiter. Here are the basic sentences.

💡💡 Tu or vous? And the agreement of « enchanté »

Use tu with friends and family, vous with strangers and for politeness. Enchanté takes an -e in the feminine: a man says «Enchanté», a woman says «Enchantée» (same pronunciation).
