Beyond е́сли / е́сли бы

A2 covered е́сли (real condition) and е́сли бы (unreal condition, conditional). B2 adds more precise constructions for stating a condition, an eventuality, or a cause-condition.

Usage

е́сли бы не + noun: “if it weren’t for”

Е́сли бы не ты, я бы не спра́вился. (If it weren’t for you, I would not have managed.)

Е́сли бы не дождь, мы бы погуля́ли. (If it weren’t for the rain, we would have gone for a walk.)

Unreal condition, often a regret

Е́сли бы не боле́знь, он бы пое́хал. (If it weren’t for the illness, he would have gone.)

💡⚠️ е́сли бы не + nominative; main clause with бы

е́сли бы не introduces what prevented (or would have prevented) the action. The following noun is in the nominative: Е́сли бы не дождь…. The main clause contains бы (unreal condition): я бы пошёл.
Е́сли бы не друзья́, мне было бы ску́чно.

Usage

при усло́вии что: state a condition

Дам кни́гу при усло́вии, что вернёшь завтра. (I will lend you the book provided you return it tomorrow.)

В слу́чае пробле́м — звони. (In case of problems, call.)

раз: “given that” (colloquial)

Раз обеща́л, сделай. (Given that you promised, do it.)

With a noun: в слу́чае + genitive (в слу́чае дождя́). With a clause: в слу́чае е́сли + subject/verb. раз is a colloquial cause-condition conjunction (“since, given that”).
