Nouns in the plural: the “three A” rule

In the plural, three cases are very easy to remember because they all contain an А: dative -ам, instrumental -ами, prepositional -ах. Soft nouns have -ям / -ями / -ях.

💡⚠️ Dative -ам, Instrumental -ами, Prepositional -ах

Whatever the gender of the noun, the plural uses the same endings in the dative, instrumental and prepositional. It is one of the most regular points in Russian. (Soft variant: -ям / -ями / -ях.)
Я звоню́ друзья́м. (dative plural)
Я говорю́ с друзья́ми. (instrumental plural)
Я ду́маю о друзья́х. (prepositional plural)
