To want: the verb хотеть
The verb хотеть (to want) is irregular: it conjugates like the 1st group in the singular and like the 2nd in the plural. It is used with an infinitive (хочу́ пить) or a noun in the accusative (хочу́ ко́фе).

Allowed or forbidden: можно / нельзя
можно (one may, it is allowed) and нельзя (one may not, it is forbidden) are invariable words followed by an infinitive. They are used to ask for or give permission.

нельзя — prohibition
Здесь нельзя курить. (you can’t smoke here)
Нельзя так говори́ть. (you mustn’t talk like that)
One must: ну́жно / надо + dative
To express necessity, use ну́жно or надо (one must) + infinitive. The person concerned goes in the dative (мне, тебе́, ему́…) — the same form you saw with нравиться.
