Parenthetical words (вводные слова) express the speaker’s attitude (opinion, source, emotion) or organise the discourse. They are set off by commas and are not sentence members.

Organising the discourse

Enumerate, add, illustrate

💡⚠️ Always between commas

вводные слова are always set off by commas and are not sentence members (you can remove them without breaking the grammar). Watch homonyms: к сча́стью parenthetical (“fortunately”) ≠ к сча́стью complement (“towards happiness”).
