Mixing registers on purpose

Style contamination (стилистическая контаминация) deliberately mixes incompatible styles — elevated and colloquial, bureaucratic and everyday — for a comic, ironic or expressive effect. It is the weapon of satirists (Zoshchenko, Ilf and Petrov).

💡⚠️ Deliberate device ≠ style error

Done inadvertently, contamination is an error (стилистическая оши́бка); done deliberately with a controlled effect, it is a device (приём). What sets them apart is intention and mastery of the effect.
