самый + adjective

The most common superlative is formed with самый + the adjective. Both words agree in gender, number and case with the noun (самый, самая, самое, самые).

самый agrees with the noun

Masculine	самый большо́й	самый большо́й го́род (the biggest city — m.)
Feminine	самая больша́я	самая больша́я страна́
Neuter	самое большо́е	самое большо́е о́зеро
Plural	самые больши́е	самые больши́е города

💡⚠️ “the best”: самый лучший or лучший

With хоро́ший, you say самый лучший or simply лучший (both are correct). Likewise: худший (the worst). In the oblique cases, both самый and the adjective decline: в самом большо́м до́ме.

Э́то самый лучший фильм. (= лучший фильм)

Я живу́ в самом краси́вом райо́не. (prepositional)

Она́ моя́ лучшая подру́га.

The superlative of adverbs

For adverbs, use the comparative + всех (than everyone) or всего (than everything): лучше всех (better than all), бо́льше всего (most of all).

Он бе́гает быстрее всех. (faster than everyone)

Она́ поёт лучше всех.

всего (among things)

Бо́льше всего я люблю́ ле́то. (most of all)

Э́то нра́вится мне бо́льше всего.
